Glendronach 18 Allardice Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Glendronach whiskies are all amazing and certainly in my list of all-time favourite whiskies, particularly given the quality of the sherry-cask aged spirit and their price compared to Macallan and other larger brands. The 18yo release is aged exclusively in ex-Oloroso sherry casks, with loads of dense, chewy, fruity flavours. In my opinion, the Oloroso casks make this quite a bit less sweet than similarly aged sherried whiskies in PX (or similar) barrels. Definitely one to try, as it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find.
Tasting Notes:
Nose – sultanas, dark chocolate, coffee, almonds
Palate – sultanas, spice, musk, dry oak
Finish – brown sugar, almonds, dry and gently tannic

Glendronach is a Scottish Highland distillery, specialising in sherry-cask aged spirits for more than 200 years. To do this, they make use of sweet, fruity Pedro Ximenez and the nutty, drier Oloroso casks, which show off the amazing range of flavours possible with sherried whisky.
